Utrecht Today
Utrecht is the capital of the province Utrecht in Holland. With 260,000 inhabitants it's the fourth largest city in the Netherlands. The city is known for its Medeival and canal structure. There are a lot of ancient churches, like the famous "Dom Tower, and other monuments to be seen. Utrecht has a lot of cultural activities and the largest University of the Netherlands is seated here. 

History Utrecht
Utrecht has a rich history. It recieved city rights in 1122 and its first settlements date back around the year 50. Roman and Germanic tribes left there tracks, still to be found in the city. Till the 15th century Utrecht was one of the most important and flourishing cities in Holland. Till late 18th century it remained a "Medieval" city. From the 19th century and after the WOII the city expanded and new suburbs were created. The city developed untill it became the fine and modern city it is now.
